UK Paper Sizes and Paper Weights Explained

Looking for guidance on paper sizes? Look no further than our paper size guide.

We understand that when it comes to printing your designs, it’s important to know the space you’re working with. Our guide is here to help, without any confusing print terminology.

All UK paper sizes

Here’s a breakdown of some of our most popular paper sizes:

  • A0-A3: Despite having the lowest numbers, these sizes are actually the largest. Perfect for stand-out signage on products like posters and display boards.
  • A4: The most common and recognised sheet of paper, ideal for prints like letterheads, documents and art prints.
  • A5: A great size for portable print, ideal for flyers, invitations and menus.
  • A6: While half the size of A5, A6 works great when you’re working with a tighter budget and have less info.
  • A7: Slightly larger than a business card and great for when you don’t need to give out a lot of info.

In case you need envelopes, below are the sizes that correspond to our paper sizes:

  • C7 envelope: fits A7 paper.
  • C6 envelope: fits A6 paper.
  • C5 envelope: fits A5 paper.

If you’re unsure about which paper weight to choose, consider the GSM (grams per square meter). The higher the GSM, the thicker the paper. For more of a premium look and feel, a higher GSM is recommended. For more cost-effective projects like flyers, a lower GSM may be more suitable. A standard piece of printer paper is usually around 80 GSM.

We hope this guide helps you choose the right paper size and weight for your printing needs.
